Sany Group was established in 1989 as a small welding material factory. It is currently the largest manufacturer of construction machinery in China and number 5 in the world, and is about to celebrate three years in Chile with the aim of consolidating itself as an alternative for medium and large mining.

"We have gradually incorporated ourselves into the mining sector, where we are in medium-sized mining and in companies that provide construction services to large mining companies," explains Patricio Giglio, manager of Sany at Andes Motor.

Construction equipment, trucks and front loaders aimed at large mining are part of Sany's offer, which has business in more than 150 countries.

“Being such an important player worldwide, which is among the 4 or 5 machinery companies globally, our company decided to be a relevant player in the mining sector as well. We want to make ourselves known, so that customers know the alternatives we have to support their needs”, says Patricio Giglio.

In the future, the Chinese company plans to introduce its larger machinery in Chile, such as 100-120-ton backhoes, which already have a presence in Peru. In addition, it will participate in a fair in Brazil where it will have a first approach with an electric truck, to advance towards electromobility.

"We want them to know our line of business to be a real alternative to traditional brands," highlights Giglio.

Milestones

Among the company's main milestones is the launch, in 2003, of the largest tonnage hydraulic rotary drilling rig in Asia and the most powerful rock cutter in the region.

There is also the manufacture in 2009 of a 200-ton excavator, which is the largest in China.

In 2010, Sany developed a 1,000-ton truck crane, the largest tonnage in China.

Also in 2010, the company had an active presence in the rescue of the 33 miners from inside the San José mine, in the Atacama region.
